WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK – THE WEEK BEGINNING 10/26
- Check that your Absentee Ballot has been recorded. Here is the link: https://info.scvotes.sc.gov/eng/voterinquiry/VoterInformationRequest.aspx?PageMode=AbsenteeInfo, then click on “Statewide General Election 2020” and then click submit. And do check – some are being returned to the Elections office for address corrections.
- Important! Reminder to voters who requested an Absentee Ballot: return it to the Board of Elections by the end of the day before election day (Nov 2nd). If on Election Day (Nov.3rd) you are still marked as having an un-returned Absentee Ballot you will not be allowed to vote at your local precinct. You will first have to go to the County Elections Office (1930 University Parkway – 1st floor) to surrender your ballot and get a slip authorizing you to vote back at your local precinct.

Plan to vote early at one of the satellite offices listed below. If you have an un-returned Absentee Ballot bring it with you to surrender to the Poll Managers.

You can still apply for one – see links below. Deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Mon, Oct 21st; applications still being accepted now!
Board of Elections is now mailing out these packages and accepting back completed ballots at its office: Ronnie Young Admin Building at 1930 University Parkway – first floor.

Be careful about what you put in each ballot envelope, and get a witness – I’ll be a witness if you need one – just email me at peterdelorme@bellsouth.net – I’ll come to you and sign the outer envelope. . I’ll even take your complete packed back to the BoE for you if you fill out the “Authorization To Return Absentee Ballot” form that comes in the packet.

- Voters in South Carolina need to confirm their identity when they vote. If you don’t have a photo ID (Drivers License, Voter Registration Card, etc.), there may be other ways you can confirm your identity. Check here: https://www.scvotes.gov/node/235
- In South Carolina, you can request a ballot to be mailed to you if you’re registered to vote. Write in “State of Emergency” as your reason for requesting a ballot. The deadline to request a ballot by mail is Oct 24. You can also request a ballot in person.

Note: Oct 24: Deadline to return by mail, email or fax the application for an absentee by mail ballot. But do it sooner so it does not get lost in the mail!
Oct 30: Deadline for voter or Authorized Representative to appear in person to return absentee ballot. Note: Pete DeLorme will will act as an Authorized Representative if so requested and you are still self-quarantining. Fill out form that comes in your Absentee Ballot packet. Do not put this form in either envelope!
Note: Actions in courts are keeping need for witness signature in limbo. Plan to have a witness sign the envelop that contains your secret ballot envelop. Pete DeLorme will act as a witness if so requested.

- From Letter to Editor in 2019 re special election: As director of special services, assistant superintendent for instruction and special services, Area 1 assistant superintendent and assistant superintendent for personnel for Aiken County Public Schools, he understands how the school system functions. As a member of the Aiken County School Board for 16 years, and chairman for 13, he has a history of promoting harmony and cooperation among board members. During those 16 years, he was involved in hiring three district superintendents and therefore knows how that hiring process works best.
